I go to a very highly respected private school. I have a 3.5 gpa, 1710 sat scores (620 math, 600 writing, 490 reading), good extracurriculars (1 sport every year, 3 clubs, 1 of which I am a founder/vice president).

The middle 50% of Elon’s accepted students’ SAT scores is 1740 to 1960, so you’re a bit below that. Is your 3.5 GPA weighted or unweighted? Elon gives a lot of weight to honors and AP classes.

It sounds like you certainly have a chance of getting in, but it might be worth taking the SATs again to try to get them up a little, especially the reading score. Also, make sure you show Elon that you are interested; visit if you can. They seem to give an advantage to students who really want to attend Elon.

Good luck!

A bonus to those looking at Elon is community involvement. It has become one the trendy schools at the moment and the academics listed earlier appear accurate for entrance, but with more applications this will change since they have the broader pool to draw from. If you have not engaged in your civic obligations, add that to your resume and you should be fine.

The drawback I’ve learned is that it is not very diverse and is rather an extension of high school. For some it is a good launching point but as you mature you might find that it does not satisfy your newly discovered personal growth potential and transferring can be challenging since not all schools academically match, so there could be more classes you need to take at your new school. Great academic programs though. Good luck.
