offer me a lot of aid if my family makes around 25k a year??

haha it’s impossible to answer that question but what i can tell you is that nyu generally isn’t great with financial aid

True. It’s is impossible to answer that. BUT they do say they commit most of their FA money to the neediest students, so I would imagine you would receive an above average package. If you want a full ride, there is still a slim chance even with a low income like that.

The most I’ve seen at any of the colleges is $25,000. I seem to think they cap it at that, regardless of what they want to call it. But it’s not usually need based. It is, as was coined in another thread “hyrid-aid”. THAT type (top) aid is usually a high achieving student (think talent at Tisch, or academic excellence at Stern/CAS), AND…has financial need. Seems like the merit students are given less if they don’t also show aid.

This $25,000 seems to have morphed into about $32,000 over the past few years. So that’s basically full tuition. Then that student would be responsible for all else, including housing which can be $11,000-$15,000 easily.

But there are SO many other types of aid. Just apply and wait to see. That’s what we’re doing in our house anyway! And it’s going to be a LONG wait! (applied regular decision)

Good luck
