My general impressions are that schools don’t “look down” on any demonstrated passion and value people who are interested in more than one thing. I don’t think you have a problem here. Glad your son is on the mend. Tough thing to experience at a young age.
@MaineLonghorn Thanks a lot!. This is not easy for us. One does not know what to say, how to say and how to console. It is too emotional and extremely painful life lesson.
Colleges will love this student (and I’m really sorry for his loss…). I have no doubt that his story, as difficult as it’s been, will be very compelling to most/all colleges. Kids do change directions after a traumatic incident; this is life, and his essays will reflect that, I have no doubt.
