Would this be an appropriate thing to add under the "additional information" tab?

<p>I know there have been a ton of threads about this topic, but I haven't found an answer to my question in any of them.</p>

<p>So I am a first generation american, the first of my entire family to be born in the usa. English was not my first language, and I didn't even start learning it until I was about 4 years old...would this be an appropriate thing to state under the "additional information" tab that's found on most college apps?

<p>It is not that uncommon. Our head of the department in graduate school mentioned that he only spoke German growing up in Michigan until he started school.</p>

<p>It might be important to be stated if your parents don’t speak English. There are many immigrant children applying to colleges who have such a problem.</p>
