Would this be enough for Harvard/MIT?

Hey All,

I am currently a freshman in high school with

  1. A 4.0 unweighted gpa
  2. Qualified for the AIME twice
  3. Qualified for Science Bowl Nationals
  4. Vice President of the Math club
  5. Secretary of the Red Cross club
  6. Got into distinguished honor roll for amc 10(top 1% out of 30,000 test takers)
  7. Made USABO semifinals
  8. Took 3 AP classes this year

Here are my goals for sophomore and junior year:

  1. Maintain my unweighted 4.0
  2. Qualify for USAJMO in sophomore year
  3. Qualify for USAMO in junior year
  4. Qualify for USABO finals in sophomore year
  5. Qualify for USABO finals in junior year and IBO
  6. Place top 4 teams in science bowl nationals
  7. Be the president of science olympiad
  8. President of Math club
  9. President of Red Cross
  10. President of science Bowl
  11. President of Interact( a volunteer club)
  12. President of NHS
  13. Take AP calc Bc, AP physics c mechanics, AP stat, AP chem, AP comp sci A, AP Comp Sci Principles, AP Government, Ap micro, AP English lit, AP English Lang, AP french, AP Macro, AP bio, AP macro, AP Chinese(15 AP classes and tests)

I know this is all hypothetical, but If I can achieve this, can i get into Harvard/MIt math or Bio programs?

You could be considered. That is all anyone can tell you. I will say that the most successful candidates often leave the well trodden paths that others follow. President of lots of clubs isn’t a big admissions boost. They want interested and interesting people.

Clubs do not really mean anything anymore

Depth is more important than breadth.

You still have a couple years before it’s officially time to apply and decide, and who knows what any school may be looking for in applicants by the. You can’t always predict the future of how things may turn out either. I’d suggest keeping up the good grades (don’t bite off more than you are sure you can chew), sticking with ECs that you truly enjoy and can thrive in, and other passions outside of school, wether that be volunteering, a music group, or any other various activity. College is still years away for you, so don’t over stress on it, and always remember, it’s not alway about where you go, but how you use the education and knowledge provided to you and what you make of it for yourself.
