Would UC Davis or Santa Barbara be good safeties?

Hi, I am in state, with a 4.0 weighted UC GPA. ranked 16/341, good EC's... but low SAT's as of NOW.

Now:
550 CR, 630 M, 650 W
680 Chem
560 Math IIC

Expected:
600 CR, 700+ M, 700+ W
680+ Chem
640+ math IIC

According to my current SAT's, would UC Davis and UCSB be safeties?

PS: i didnt make ELC :( , (im in the lower portion of the top 4% of my class)

How does your school place students, particularly ones with your situation? Do they tend to get accetpeted to schools like Davis, Santa Barbara, or those considered better quite regularly? If so, then you're in good shape. If not, then you are not. If you have the most rigorous course availble, great. Nearer to that, the better. If your ECs are strong, great. The SAT scores will hurt you, but this will be marginalized or not depending on various factors, mostly the rest of your app and your school.

usually, the kids in the honors program, about 70/341, will usually get into UC's. I just had a really bad testing day, I have been practice tests up the yin yang and i expect over 700 for math and writing and hopefully 650 for CR.

The sad thing is, the majority of kids from my school go to CSUN or community college.

So, i just don't know if Davis or SB would be safeties or matches. I have great EC's and hopefully great essays.

Davis and Santa Barabara would be matches the stats for admitted students at davis in 2005 are here http://why.ucdavis.edu/admissions/froshSelProcess.cfm
As a rule of thumb a school is only a safety if your in the upper 25% of admitted students.

UCSB/UCD: Match

I'd say they are matches given that UCs are pretty much number driven. You have a good chance, just not a sure chance. You might add more UCs (Riverside? UCSC?), and use a state college or two as true safeties unless you want to do what many California kids do and assume that a community college will be your safety.

if you have good EC's, write good essays and raise those scores, then Davis would drop to the safety category (80%), SB slightly less. Also consider Irvine, which would be a safety, since they are a growing campus and accepting more kids each year.

One of my friends talked to the admissions officer at UCSB and he said that in the end, it's all about numbers, nothing else. If I were you, I'd raise those scores if you're looking into UCs. At best, those schools are matches, even with your estimated score.

SB, Irvine, and Davis are about the same acceptance-wise, Irvine has the lowest admission rate of the 3 but all aren't that far apart. I'd call all of them matches.
