I have a hard time generalizing people in the Bay Area as being “real” or “politically active” since so many of them are from different places altogether. Either they are from the Midwest somewhere, or southern California, or some place that just barely qualifies as being part of the Bay Area, like Concord or Petaluma.

@jamesinho Believe me, compared to Hawaii, Berkeley is cold and cloudy. Besides, are you really going to compare and CSU to Berkeley? Really?

Huzzah for libertarians. FORCING preferences be damned.

@nicolles: I’ve lived in both places (how bout yourself?). Neither place has four seasons, and summers in Berkeley can be brutal, but yeah, sure: HI is warmer overall.

Okay, OOS person, what exactly is wrong with SFSU? The CSU system in general is excellent. Anyway, if you don’t get into Cal, and still want that cool weather you may want to consider it.

I was in a same dilemma just a few days ago…
but I chose UCLA :)…
and i’m happy with my choice!

either way, berkeley and ucla are both great schools!
I’m OOS, and once I go to California this summer, I still want to visit Berkeley …hehe

get outta here Freshman!

^Lol, I was this close to asking how he got his decision so early. And then it hit me, hahah.

@solidblu - Why did you change? Just curious

“And by “junkies”, you must mean “intellects.” Which further proves you shouldn’t go to Cal or LA.”

lol. Why MUST I mean anything? As if one word necessarily denotes a correlation with the other. And since when are political enthusiasts intellects? lol lol lol lol. Yea, all those elitists with super brains going around on the tea party express working for NASA right? lol. I would argue that the least intelligent people in the nation are all political activists, but that’s for another day.

Probably UCLA but ide be soooo happy at either

Right now, I’m leaning towards Berkeley.

LA because of the atmosphere; but Cal ostensibly has the best undergraduate program in the nation for my major - sociology. But still, if given the choice I’d choose LA.

idk before i was like “damn they both have great programs for my major (anthro)”

but now after reading about the rapes and gunpoint situations, which campus has a better police/cadet service?

i have friends in cal and la. from what i ahve gathered, both are completely different environment educationally-wise.
cal has a LOT of pressure. you are in the top of your class or falling behind.
la is much more chill but still the same difficulty.

IMO
Obviously, both are superamazingGGsuperb universities. But many people feel that cal has more of a prestigious feeling. they feel like they have a better chance of gettin into grad school with a cal degree rather than a la degree.
all in all its ur preference, ie norcal or socal fan, liberal atmosphere, city life, etcetcetc. need to take other things into account aside from education
if u want safety…choose irvine…safest university in teh nation lol

my choice goes to La since its hard to imagine being away from my family…also ima socal native :]

LOL @ janethedoe

UCB UCB UCB!!!

Really, CalBearGuy? I would think you’d be leaning towards UCLA with a name like that! :D

EVAN! Berkeley now?

I feel confused and exhausted when I try to guess where I am going to go to college. I wish there was some sort of sign from a higher power God-like thing to tell me where to go to school… I think this is the biggest decision that I have had to make in my entire life.

For now…we must wait…

Yes, I’ve returned to my Berkeley craze!

i have some socal friends and they all hate it up here at norcal. they mostly complain about the weather though. keep in mind that they are spoiled water polo/surfer type kids.

well sometimes when its hot outside and sunny and perfect, i get
kinda p i s s e d that we in SoCal dont have colder weather.
i think i could handle a weather change…i hope.

While I was tanning the other day I started thinking about what school i wanted to go to more (for me it would be between UCB and HSU) and than I remembered why I even applied ot UCB when I had been set on HSU this past fall.
It was for a boy lol. Since everyone know how badly I had wanted to go to HSU I wanted and option in case I fell in love and wanted to stay close to home.
But than I did fall in love… with UCB :)
