I know that class rank isn’t always a determining factor in the college admissions process, but I wanted to hear your thoughts about my rank. I attend a middle-of-the-road public Massachusetts high school with average test scores and a decent curriculum. The top 5-10 spots are very competitive. By the end of the year, I hope to boost my rank to #2. The student in the #1 position is likely going to stay there, based on his current academic performance.
It’s excellent. Congratulations.
However, for many colleges, rank is just one part of the equation, and ranking 2 or 5 will not be the difference between reject and accept. Best of luck.
