Ahh...I get it. :p I read it as this thread wasn't important, and then you were adding the whole 'climate, not weather' at the end as...well, you get it. lol

"I've lived in Massachusetts my entire life and if I never see another winter again it will be too soon. "

Agreed. Except its Syracuse for me and it has been forever and I'm done with it. I hate winters, I hate the long months of cold and snow and ice and being forced to stay inside because of it. So every school I applied to is in California and since I've been accepted at two, that's where I'm going no matter what. My parents have decided where I live my entire life and its been hell so now that I finally get to choose where I live, I'll choose the best environment for me to learn. I have nothing but hate for this climate so yes, weather/climate is deciding where I go to college and I think its the best choice for me.

If others want to go freeze in the Northeast, Midwest, etc, then that's their decison. Just don't complain about it when you have a chance to do something about it.

I let Los Angeles' near-perfect all-year-round weather partially decide for me.

After that, it was proximity to nice beaches.

Sort of. I wouldn't let good weather decide, I can be happy in 55 degree cloudy weather as I would be in 85 degrees and sunny type of weather. However, if the weather was horrible (such at 100+ degree days in May or constant snow (although I love it in NH)), it could make na impact.

I could care less what the weather is.

The weather, coupled with the distance from home (great lakes area), was what made me decide not to apply to Stanford. I wouldn't be able to stand it being that hot all the time, and having no real seasons. Fall's my favorite season, and I love winter too (snow!!!!). I'm no skier, so if I lived in CA I would literally never see snow, and I wouldn't be able to stand it.

^ Yeah, you've got it right. I've lived in Southern Cali my whole life, and have yet to have ever seen or been in snow.

Sadly, I would definitely let weather be a major deciding factor. It sounds really sad and corny, but I am a much less efficient student when it's cold...and shivering cold for me is another near or under 50 degress.

I've lived in Florida my entire life, but I will not let weather decide where I go. I will be moving up north( New Hampshire) in the fall and I look forward to experiencing snow for the first time. I'll miss the sunny weather and the beautiful beaches, but I think the mountains and rivers will make up for it.

weirdoone,

If you think Palo Alto's hot, you obviously haven't been there.

And to all of you who say weather doesn't matter, try living in Tokyo for a summer. Then tell me that weather doesn't matter.

Not so much weather but geography. I knew I wanted to be in the South. Plus I've grown tired of cold wintry weather, its time for a change.

Living in sunny SoCal, I think my choice to head off to Chicago next year for college pretty much tells everyone that weather doesn't play that much of a role.

While I like the cold, cold in my book is probably 60-70 degrees. I have a feeling I'll be a walking popsicle next year!

There are mountains in SoCal, where you can ski and snowboard..... to all those who are trying to portray CA as just sun and beaches. Theres Big Bear, Mountain High, Mammoth....... snow if you want it...and yes I live in SoCal

CA is too cold for me! I am staying in Texas.

are you serious, i live in NY...do you know cold it gets here....CA is nothing, i rather live there than ny

Climate is definitely important to me- I would go crazy without all four seasons! I'm from MN and winter is my absolute favorite time of year- nothing is better than a fresh snowfall. Fortunately for me there are a lot of good schools in the Midwest/Northeast.

i'm with you, Shellzie...

I'm from MN too, and I looove Minnesota winters! I wouldn't mind if they were a bit more mild at times, but I wouldn't survive without four seasons, one of them having snow. I considered applying to colleges in California because I've always wanted to spend some time there, but I decided not to because I really can't imagine having 4 years of warm, sunny weather. Not that warm and sunny is bad... but I love Spring and Fall in the Midwest... that nice, cool crispness... it's perfect! As a result, I only applied to colleges in the Midwest and Northeast. But I'm still definately going out to California someday... just not for college.

All the people who say how much they love the winter keep making me think of Plato's Republic, The Cave.

:p

i dont think that weather should be a true concern if u really like the school

^Temperatures over 80 degrees in combination with humidity make me feel physically ill. I'd definitely say that's a true concern.
