And you live in DC? You poor thing...

...Yeah.

I remember June in DC, and thinking how eerily like Tokyo it was. You should get yourself to SoCal ASAP! :p

SoCal is warm but dry, right? I think I could handle that.

Weather plays a factor, but it's not the only factor for me. I mean, I live in California (NorCal) and I applied to 5 Upper Midwest colleges...

Still, I'd rather take 80F+ in the summer all the time than 30F- in the winter for 3 months. Really.

SoCal isn't even that warm. Around West LA, a very HOT day is mid 80s. You only really get those hot, miserable temperatures inland and in the Valley. UCLA rarely went beyond 80, even in August.

Seriously, I think some of these posters think that it's a desert wasteland. Too many movies, kids.

California is definitely not as warm as you would think. Their beaches are chilly even in the summer!

Very true. I've had many a beach day in LA turned cold by wind chill.

San Diego's a bit better in this regard.

I'm glad to hear it. :)

Yeah, im from a 'burb 30 min. outside NYC and im going to UCSD next fall. Weather played a huge role. Winter just becomes so depressing. True, it is nice for a while, but not after 5 months or so.

I don't care that much about weather to let it determine where I'll be going to school for the next, what, 4 years? It's just not that big of a deal for me. Well, that's the case unless it affects my well-being. Just as long as it's not raining 24/7 or gloomy and making me depressed, then I'll be fine.

I didn't let it make my decision. I'm from just outside of Seattle, WA, which is very wet during the fall/winter/early spring, with a mild summer...and am going to CWRU in Cleveland. Snow, cold, and more cold, here I come! Considering all my other options were on the West Coast, I couldn't honestly say that I let weather play too big of a role.

Weather definitely contributed to my choices when it came to applications. My criteria was nothing north of Pennsylvania, no East Coast schools south of Virginia. And I applied to Stanford and Santa Clara because it's damn perfect there.

Money was the deciding factor though. Four more years of this mid-Atlantic schizo weather, for free.
