A few minutes ago, I was reading "Fermat's Enigma" by Simon Singh (it is a great read by the way). I came to a section about the Wolfskehl prize, and as I read the details of the contest, I came to the following passage:

If the prize is not awarded by 13 September 2007, no ulterior claim will be accepted.

And I was like "Hold up - isn't that today?"

A couple years ago we were looking at a Spanish textbook and saw the teacher as a teenager in the street in one of the textbook photos. Also there was a poster on the side of a building in Spanish in another photo that had the same date on that day but 20 years ago. Which is probably pretty lame too, but it's kinda weird to see a younger version of your teacher in an old textbook . . . like she was destined to teach spanish or something.

Yeah, kids, watch out for random photographers in the street because then you might appear in an English textbook in a foreign country someday (with embarassingly poofy 80s/early 90s hair, to boot).

Her young son was flipping through the textbook and exclaimed that he saw his mom in there. And then she looks and it's her and her friend in the street in Spain or something. It wasn't a far-away shot either, but an up-close one so you could recognize her pretty quickly.

Makes you wonder what happened to all the people in the textbook photos.
