Ok. I know this is way too late to do anything about. But...

Everyone knows that you could have applied common app or the actual Emory application.

I just remembered that the Emory one had only 3 spots for ECs, whereas the common app has 6-7 or so spots for ECs. I did the Emory one and I put down my most important ECs. (Though, it did have separate place for work experience, which definitely helps me!)

Will the admissions people take into consideration for the fact that the Emory application limited the amount of ECs you could have put down? (I actually have around 10 legitimate ECs, though)

Or am I screwed and will now just have to rely on my decent stats (you can look them up on the list of CC members applying to Emory), essays, and recs now?

I used the Emory application as well, and I compensated for the low number of EC spots by also attaching a resume that had a list of the activities that I am active in and a brief description of my responsibilities in each. It is probably not too late to send in something like that, although judging from your stats and writing you already seem quite qualified for Emory, so it may not be necessary :)

People on CC attribute too much weight to E.C.s; they are a secondary criteria, you would have had to rely on your stats regardless. Without a doubt, three of your less important E.C.s will not give you a major boost.

Actually, I think that Emory places much more weight on extracurriculars than most schools do. They are very into what their students do outside the classroom, which is what my mom LOVES about emory haha. I have a friend that got in there last year with a lower than average GPA and mediocre test scores… but he was INCREDIBLY involved in our high school, and he got in over kids from our school with significantly better stats.

Emory could have included more spots for ECs on their application because it is their application. Since they do not have those spots, the admissions people obviously feel that they can judge candidates who only show the limited amount of ECs.

It would make no sense for Emory to favor applicants using the common app over their own personal application. If anything, there would be an unacknowledged bias in favor of the Emory app.

They accept resumes I sent it. Btw ec’s are not secondary criteria. My sat was below average and I got in cause I do a **** load of other stuff seriously
