WPI vs Stevens vs Northeastern

So I got into Stevens and Northeastern and am yet to hear from WPI. Though I want to go to WPI, Stevens has the best location (I’m a New Yorker and Hoboken is a nice place too) and has an anime convention each year, but WPI has all the majors I’m interested in (Robotics, AI, and even Aerospace engineering). Northeastern is a good balance of the two, an abundance of majors and choices, and in Boston which wins over WPI in Worcester (huge opioid problem and is more of a large town than a city and reliance on a car). I’ve posted a similar forum before but want more opinions. If you have any more pros and cons about each school, that will be helpful. Thanks!

What is the bottom line cost of each school (unless your parents are very affluent)?

I have to pay about 18k a year for northeastern, if I were to live on Stevens and add misc and books/supplies, id pay 24k but commuting it would be around 11k a year. WPI I don’t know yet but let’s say it would be 20k. A few thousand difference isn’t my concern when comparing NEU and WPI.

Being from the NYC area it would be good to ‘spread your wings’ and go to college in another city, if you can afford it. Being a Bostonian I am not too fond of Worcester. :smiley:

Well, you’ll be on campus 90%+ of the time, though.

As a New Yorker, anything across the Hudson is spreading your wings! :))

If possible attend the accepted student days of your 2 or 3 top schools and the answer may become clear.

@happy1 has the correct answer.

I taught for a while at Northeastern and my husband worked in Worcester. I’d go with Northeastern between the two. But, if you are used to all that NYC has to offer, you will find Boston rather lacking (ducking as all the Boston lovers throw something at my head), so I’d go with Stevens out of the three.

I really don’t like when people assume this - for people who look at city schools, this is often not true at all. I was told this all through selecting a college and had I not ignored it out of my own hunch, I would have ended up at a much worse college for myself. For someone looking at Stevens/Northeastern and mentioning reliance on a car as a negative, it’s not a safe assumption this is true.

I think I’ve already commented on your other thread, but as before I would put it to be between Northeastern and Stevens, and also agree that a visit to each should help here.
