Wrestling

What do we have to do to walk on to Wrestling? I have been wrestling for years, and would like to keep it up, but I wasn't recruited. I haven't even signed up for NCAA Clearinghouse... Anyone who knows much about the procedure, please enlighten me.

its worth trying out, but this year they didn't take any walk-ons. i know a kid who was better than some of the recruits but he got cut. they have a club freestyle team if you want to do that.

In that case I won't even bother doing the clearinghouse thing...And I had considered messing with football. Hahah.

You can't really "mess with" football here. It is a religion, and Bobby Ross is God. Did you send an sport interest sheet in? Is Coach Barbee aware you'd like to wrestle for him? The incoming class has fifteen new wrestlers in it. Eight have won state titles in highschool, five were at USMAPS last year. Here's a link that profiles them. http://goarmysports.cstv.com/sports/m-wrestl/spec-rel/042506aad.html. Take a look and see how you compare. Also, during Beast, Corps Squad has practice in the afternoons while everyone else plays IMs. Bring your shoes and at least try.

i think it'd be worth checking out... i haven't wrestled in like 4 years though... :(

If you're not dead set on wrestling, we've probably got ten different "fighting" clubs. Karate, Taekwondo, Kendo, Judo, Boxing, Freestyle wrestling, Fencing, and Grappling, I know for certain we have, and we do wrestling and grappling as intramurals at the company level. We have rugby too, if you like grabbing at peoples ears...

Ragman - there's also a sprint football team if you're under 160 or could get there. Those guys are pretty intense.

I used to play rugby... hmmmmmm

They're building a stadium for the rugby team right now...http://www.armyrfc.com/. We're pretty good. Sweet Sixteen was held here this year, and that was awesome to watch.

yeah i read the article a while ago. it looks pretty sweet. Huge team too

90 people I think...Four sides I know. The Brothers work hard and play harder.

you ever play before? on a womans team?

Nope, not a WARrior (Women's Army Rugby). I don't like contact/team sports, I'm more of a running/swimming type. Although I did spend one of my IM periods competing in grappling and another reffing. I roll with my fiance when we can but he kicks my ass a lot...I don't think I'm ever going to catch up on his two years of jujitsu.

im done with grappling. Sometimes it seems like all we do sometimes. Infantry guys tryin to show how tough they are till they get rolled up by their medic ;)

is there combatives in beast?

One morning's worth of basic combatives, one day at the rifle bayonet assault course, which involves pugil sticks.

Is the rugby team hard to get on?

i dont know, it depends if your good. they have a pretty large team, split into a varsity and then 3 other teams i think. they are really good. they were number 1 in the nation pretty much the entire year and then, unfortuanately lost in the playoffs.
