The movement should start happening soon. But don’t be surprised if it’s still going on in May - occasionally even into the summer. Good luck to those of you on the WL. Never hurts to contact the department and let them know you’re REALLY interested in attending.
My D was on the waitlist. Maybe she’s the one @MTmom2017 is referring to. My D was very interested in WSU and it was her first choice of schools so the WL notification was difficult. We took a chance and set up a program tour, which included a meet & greet w/ Joe Deer. I don’t know if it was dumb luck or the fact that we took a red-eye from Seattle in order to get there before their semester ended and thus showed my D’s commitment to the program. Whatever it was, it worked! She got in and has been very happy w/ the program! I would definitely let WSU know that the program is your student’s first choice. My D let them know that if she was offered a spot, she would commit immediately. Showing interest and commitment helps!
Haha @Mardeen - not your D - another freshman girl! So we know at least 2 girls got in off the WL last year.
I was at a school visit yesterday with D2 (Acting) & talked to several people (both MT & Acting) who were in the process of visiting schools, as we are. Several of them also said they are on various WLs. It seems like lots of people haven’t made decisions yet.
D and her dad are headed to Dayton as we speak. She is SO excited.
Hope they enjoy their visit!
Fantastic @owensfolks! Hope they have a stellar visit! Is she sitting in on classes, touring, etc?
Yes, @MTmom2015. I guess that they put a whole day together for her tomorrow. She didn’t tell me all the details-but I think she gets to observe classes including an advanced level dance class, and even have lunch with a faculty member. She and her dad are pooped after the 8 hour drive today, so they are laying low tonight. Hmmm…probably didn’t help that I heard the washer and dryer going at like, 2 am I just texted her and recommended she jot down any specific stuff that she wants to know-but I am really hoping and expecting that she will have a “these are my people” moment at one of her final 3 schools that she’s visiting.
Good luck to those waiting and congratulations to those already in! It really is an amazing program. We’re from L.A., a loooong way from Dayton, and we couldn’t be happier with the choice our son made in attending the BFA MT at WSU! We have a great BFA parent page on FB if you already know your kid is attending WSU! It’s a private page but a few of us can add you: @MTmom2015, @mom4bwayboy, or me!
For those of you who had daughters taken off the WL in previous years, when did that happen? I am assuming that it will be close to May 1 or after, and the WL letter said by May 15. But it seems to me that that it could be later than that due to shuffling around. What was your time frame?
@goingcrazymomof3 I just looked back at messages & our friend came off on 4/18 - she got an email. Best of luck to you!
Thank you @MTmom2017! WSU is my D first choice so of course we are hoping and praying she comes off the WL!
Thinking good thoughts for @goingcrazymomof3’s D.

My d was waitlisted last year and came off of the list a year ago this week, but notifications seem to be going out very differently than last year. I hadn’t heard of anyone being notified until March last year and it was much earlier this year and seemed to happen in waves. Good luck! The wait is so difficult!
Did she also get notified by email? My D waitlist notification came by snail mail.
@goingcrazymomof3 My daughter came off the waitlist on 4/14.
