Writing a College Essay on my Disability

I have Cerebral Palsy and was considering writing about how I came to accept my disability in high school for my Common App essay. I hear that the most successful essays are usually about very specific stories whereas my essay would be a bit broader. Is it okay if my essay is a bit less specific?

That’s fine to mention, but colleges want to know who you are as a person and what qualities make you someone they want to accept, not just about your disability. However, if you delve deep into what caused you to accept your disability, and why you won’t let it hold you back from accomplishing your dreams, that may be interesting. Just make sure all of your good qualities are made apparent. Good luck with your essay!!
