<p>The answer is :</p>
<p>The error in this sentence occurs at (C), where the present tense of a verb (play) is incorrectly used to express an action that was completed in the past. The past-tense verb played is needed instead.</p>
<p>However, I thought the answer was D because i thought it was an incorrect/ambiguous pronoun....</p>
