<p>I don't know if grammatically it can, but its obviously referring to the animals, so the error is "they take" because it should simply be "take" to maintain parallelism.</p>

<p>In the original sentence, "titled after" incorrectly modifies waves and whales. Choice B correctly pairs the modifier with its antecedent by changing the waves and whales part to an appositive.</p>
