THANKS!

Answers:
3)A
5)A
21)D
23)B
24)D
29)D
34)A

Please explain :D Thank you so much!

p.s. I know some has no error. So I guess you can ignore explain those.. xD

Okay, some of these are harder to explain, but I’ll try my best :)

3) Mainly, the answer is A because it flows. It does not reintroduce the subject in the second part of the sentence like the others (by using “it”). Some of the others are grammatically correct, but don’t sound right when said out loud.

5) Okay, if you look at the punctuation here, the thing that separates parts 1 and 2 of the sentence is a comma. Commas indicate that at least one of the two parts of the sentence need the other to stand. If you look at answers B, C, D, and E, they could all be sentences on their own, and there is no conjunction (for, and, nor, but, or, so, yet) connecting parts 1 and 2. For those to be used and it be proper grammar, a semicolon is needed, not a comma. A is the only one that would fit. Plus, it flows better, also.

21) okay, the key for this one is the phrase “not only.” The structure of a sentence with that phrase normally goes something like this: “Not only ____________ but also ." or "Not only _ but rather ____________.” There’s always a “but” as the conjunction to the next part of the sentence. So it should go “not only as an orbiting particle BUT ALSO as a wave.”

23) This is a verb-adjective plurality disagreement problem. Math, science, and foreign language ARE essential SUBJECTS. You don’t say “They are great book” or “It is a dogs.” You need to make sure that if one part is plural, that the rest of the sentence agrees.

24) Okay, I’m not really sure about this one, but I know something is wrong because it says she “has begun” (present) but she “went on” (past) afterwards. I’d ask your English teacher, because this sentence just doesn’t make sense to me.

29) Again, this is a subject-verb disagreement. In the second part of the sentence, it says “there remains several unsolved questions.” Another way of putting that is “Several unsolved questions remains” which is, obviously, wrong. You’d say “remain,” not “remains.” If the sentences are phrased and arranged strangely, try rearranging them into a simpler form and see what the problem is.

34) This is simply a modifier problem. This sentence is comparing commercial broadcasting with producers, not producers OF commercial broadcasting with producers of public elevation. I’d recommend looking up misplaced modifiers, because, in essence, that’s what this is, and it’s hard to explain. All I can really say is that because they’re right next to each other, the broadcasting and the producers are wrongly grouped.

Hope that helps! Good luck with your prep! :D

3) Because there is an “and” in the middle of the sentence, you can say the sentence as, “The region is now suffering a severe drought.” That sounds about right. Just to be sure, check the other answer choices to see if they are right.

5) Notice that all the answer choices except “a” can stand on its own, so if you add it to another sentence without a proper transition, the resulting sentence will be a run-on.

21) “D” should be “but also” as. Remember that “not only” always pairs with “but also.”

23) “An essential subject” in “b” is talking about “mathematics, science, and a modern foreign language,” which is plural. Therefore, “an essential subject” should be “essential subjects.

24) I don’t know about this one.

29) You can rewrite “there remains several unsolved questions” as “several unsolved questions remains there,” which doesn’t make sense. It should be “remain”.

34) In this sentence, commercial broadcasting is compared with producers. You cannot make such a comparison. The sentence can be rewritten as either “Unlike the producers of commercial proadcasting, producers working for public elevations…” or as “Unlike commercial broadcasting, public elevation is…”

I think the answer for 24 must be B, not D. It should be BEGAN, not HAS BEGUN.

And yeah that’s what I thought to and I picked B for 24
