i know that A is wrong for misplaced modifier and choices C and D are wrong as well for using "they" and E is wrong because however is placed between two independent clauses
but choice B, which i didn't cross out, seems strange </p>

i need a lot of help with this one even though the first one was harder
for this one i choose E instead of D</p>

<p>For #2 - E would work if that comma were changed to a semicolon. With a comma, it’s just two sentenced connected with a comma - and you can’t do that.</p>

<p>First sentence: In 1977, Tracy Austin became . . .
Second sentence: she was fourteen years old when . . .</p>
