Writing Section questions from Bluebook

Well, today I'm focusing solely on the writing section.. and i have a question XD.

On page 601 of the bluebook question 9, the question states

Isolate by the sea, the aboriginal peoples of australia (had developed a unique culture) long before the arrival of Europeans.

The answer is A, correct as it stands

I would have thought that peoples made it plural >.<;;

Could the answer possibly be because the word "the" that precedes "aboriginal peoples" makes it singular? o.o;;

Thanks guys! ^___^
Z

developed is correct in the correct version in both singular and plural...

I developed
You developed
He developed
We developed
You developed
They developed

huh...?

err sorry. >.<

I was referring mostly to the word have.

If it was singular it would have said, "he had"
but if it was plural, it would say, "They have"

In this case i'm wondering why it's "the aboriginal peoples of Australia HAD"
And not, "the aboriginal peoples of Australia have"

because if I were to use that in a sentence.

The aboriginal peoples of Australia "like" collegeboard

and not the singular

The aboriginal peoples of Australia "likes" collegeboard.

it's isolateD by the sea

since it's in past tense, u use the past perfect.

Oh woow Thanks ^__^;;
Why didn't I think of that >.<;;

Anyways, I have another writing question now =/ I just finished 2 more tests while I was waiting for a reply.

Page 602 question 14 [This was rated an easy question too =( ]

(Because they) painted scenes of life as ordinary people (lived it), (rather than) scenes from myths, many nineteenth-century American artists differed (from earlier times)

Is it because we are comparing (or in this case contrasting) 19th century artists with "time" ? o.o;;

yes.
comparison error
