I am not sure there is an answer to this, but we are in the throes of the common app and of course each of the schools want a simple writing supplement usually 200 words or less. How important are these really? Do the theater departments see these or is it just for admission to the University/college?

They are important, they are read. More than one auditioner and my son’s current dean referred to his essay. And you must be accepted to the schools as well, so they are crucial to the academic side as well.

we also kept a folder for each school and any essays or short answers that my D wrote were included in that. We took them with us and before she auditioned she reviewed what she wrote

Oooh Broadway95 that’s a great suggestion! Thanks!

bisouu - really, everything is important - applications, monologues, head shots, essays, interviews.
