Say a room was written up for noise and smelling like weed and alcohol. Nothing was seen by the RAs other than a bag over the smoke alarm, ie these hypothetical RAs did not see any weed, alcohol, or paraphernalia in the room. The IDs of the 5-7 people in the room were taken and photos of the IDs were taken as evidence to document the situation.

What will the consequences be for those involved? What if one of the people in the room wasn't a Cal student? Will they be reported to their college? Will the residents of the room be hypothetically punished more? How would one of the residents go about ensuring that everyone got their story straight/ what story would land all involved in the least amount of trouble?

Who the hell gets caught smoking weed at Berkeley?? Check your housing contract and face the consequences, don’t try to BS your way out of it.

@callybear I don’t know anyone who’s had a similar situation so I’m sorry I can’t give you any reliable information. It seems to me that without actual proof, UCB can’t do anything. It will probably be just something they look at as past history if anyone there gets caught again. For the person at another university, I can’t imagine it being reported–especially since it’s all circumstantial evidence.

Please write back and let us know what happens!

Nothing happened, really. Only people who got in trouble were the people who lived in the room. They just said that they were the only ones smoking and that they just split a joint. Had to give a presentation on stress management. Kid who didn’t go there got in trouble at his school, but that was because he was caught shooting up after he told his roommate/suitemates he was clean and they weren’t having any of that ■■■■. Hypothetically.
