Wrote my essays for my AP Lang in pencil!

I didn't know we HAD to write in pen, what can I do?

You can pray that they run the AP Lang exam through a scanner and have the AP Graders look on it through a computer so it won’t be noticeable. I know for Govt they do that but not for Macro/Micro since there is drawing graphs part involved and graders use the original copy.

Hope and pray.

wow. that RLY sucks. sorry

Thanks :frowning: I talked to our AP Coordinator and she wrote on this binder w/ all this other stuff. And said she would call and I should come back tomorrow. Is there at least some hope?

But wouldn’t they excuse it?
I mean does it matter if it was in pen or pencil? It’s not like you can’t read it when it’s in pencil? So what is the deal with the pen-only on FRQs? I have always wonder that.

that’s why they make you read the directions before you start…

Epic fail!

uh oh…that’s not good

Dear God!!! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Doesn’t matter. Did that last year and my score came out fine.

My friend did this on the calc exam.

I think that if you write it in pencil it is harder to read because everything gets scanned. That’s why they say black or dark blue ink so it will wholly show up when they scan it. Pencils, and light-colored pens for that matter, don’t show up as well when you scan it.

Not sure of the consequences, though it would be draconic of them to give you a 0 for just writing in pencil. I’d guess they’d make an attempt to read it, though if the pencil makes it where the writing is indecipherable, they would be warranted in their giving you a 0.

Yes, but the Calculus test allowed you to use either pen or pencil. The Lang test required pen.

rkm2010, was it ap lang?

I don’t think they scan the FRQs. I’ve heard from our AP Coordinator that they’re shipped to specific locations (Florida, Colorado, Missouri, etc.) in June to get graded.

^I think they scan it for their own record-keeping purposes? So that they have a digital copy of all the essays if they wanted to release sample essays to teachers. I’m not sure though.

I used pencil on all of mine. It specifically said I could on the booklet.

I think it comes down to the markers. I know my AP teachers have stressed that the markers don’t have to read anything that they feel is illegible. I think you should be fine though.

One of my friends did this last year on Bio, and he got a 5. So I think you’re fine.

You’re allowed to do Calc FRQ in pencil
