WUSTL Sam Fox School of Visual Arts and Design CHANCES?

My Son is rising Senior and wants to apply to WUSTL Sam Fox School of Visual Arts and Design. He attends private day/boarding school in California, has 3.7 GPA, will take his SAT in August (mock tests around 1450) … worried that his GPA and SAT scores are much lower than their standard.
He had won many Scholastic arts awards since 8th grade, founder and President of
Art Club at the school, found brand and raised approximately 20K.

He was to intern during this summer but got cancelled due to covid.
If anyone who attends or has been accepted to Sam Fox School, does he have chance
at all? and can you share any information on what he can do more other than improving
his grades and SAT scores?

The secret’s not in his scores/grades, but in his portfolio. I’ve talked to a few accepted students (going to apply myself) one of which had very similar stats as you just said. In terms of an art program, your technical and creative skills are much more important to AOs than what you got on the SAT, so he just has to make sure his portfolio’s really good. Good luck to him

Thank you so much! He just had on line meeting with Admission to go over some of his portfolio he has started few weeks ago and they also wanted see some of his
artworks from AP art. She gave great comments which he will apply to his portfolio.
He might not even able to take SAT he registered for August since his school just
announced they will not have students in the campus this Fall. WUSTL we believe
is not a test optional college. Good luck to you too!

@gavinmom one year test optional https://admissions.wustl.edu/how-to-apply/fall-2021-applicant-info/
