X Ray Technician

Hey, there is a local institute that offers X ray technician in 10 weeks, it could be online or on campus, they said that this will authorize me to only take x rays, so I won’t become a radiologic technologist.
it costs $1200
What do you think?

I am taking my associates at a local college, in december i will become a resident, so I am thinking of not taking any classes in this fall.

Please share your thoughts.

x ray tech is an over saturated field.

I guess they are preparing you for the ARRT Limited Scope Radiography exam? Ask what their pass rate is and find out what licensing requirements are in your state. Also find out if people get jobs after this and what the jobs pay. In general, those certificates might be of use to people who already work at a doctor’s office; you would not have the same job opportunities as an ARRT radiologic technologist. I might also call the person in charge of my local ARRT radiologic technologist program (the program director at the cc, for example) and ask him or her about his experience with limited radiographers.

I guess it’s good its only $1200, but you still run the risk that because there’s a lot of competition for x ray techs that employers will opt to go with someone with a full 2 or 4 year degree over your 10 weeks of education. Then again, you never know. Maybe an employer will like you more than other candidates and give you the job anyway. Contrary to popular belief it’s not that easy to [become</a> an x ray technician](<a href=“http://www.degreefinders.com/education-articles/careers/how-to-become-an-x-ray-technician.html"]become”>Home - Degree Finders) these days.
