Hm, that may be true, but didn’t someone mention earlier in this thread that the stats for this year are significantly higher than last year?
And still, 1 in 3 is pretty good odds for a school with less than a 1 in 10 acceptance rate :P

Yeah, as much as I wish most people here will get in, that won’t happen. :(

I think my chances are out the window these days…there’s at least one other strong SCEA applicant from my school (which always has 11-15 applicants/0 accepted to Yale), and I submitted a web design/programming portfolio that was only visited once by an admissions officer - and only for 15 seconds. :(

Fuzzy-

Ya, your right about the stats of the applicants here being alot higher than they were previously. However, I wonder if that is actually a bad thing…you think that there will be a spike in the number of 2300+ers applying to Yale this year?

Maybe it’s just representative of CCers? (Hopefully!) If this isn’t true across the board, then maybe a higher percentage of us will get in compared to previous years.

Probably just my wishful thinking, haha.

woo yeah go china although im pretty whitewashed by now ;)

^thanks xrCalico.

Again guys, remember to add yourself to the list IN ADDITION to your basic stats.

xrCalico- thanks! I totally forgot about the list, haha :)

Rtgrove- Hm, I don’t think there’ll be a spike in +2300ers applying to Yale early. I mean, it’s not like the number of people getting +2300 has gotten up drastically between last year and this year, meaning there’s only so many people with those high scores. and I don’t see any reason why MORE would necessarily apply to Yale this year, as opposed to last year. I DO think that overall CC membership has gone up - as high schoolers get more and more into the whole college thing - so maybe that’s why people with such great stats are posting more?

Fuzzy-
Interesting point…your prbly right.

@fuzzy: you’re welcome:)

I don’t know… The CC membership probably did go up, hence more 2300+ are pledging, but the total number of pledgers actually went down. Last year’s thread went up to 129 people and we only have 57 so far this year. (Come on, let’s beat the 2013ers!)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/608964-yale-2013-scea-pledge-report-your-decision-list-17.html

I think because everyone posted had high stats, the people who don’t just don’t feel like adding themselves to the list anymore, so now we get this distorted view that everyone applying to Yale SCEA must have 2400 SAT 4.0 GPA and everything. Honestly, whenever I read this thread, I get thoroughly depressed, lol.

Yeah…it seems that last year no stats were posted prior to decisions?

You guys were already going to post whether or not you got in, this “pledge” is dumb.

Got my likely letter last week

tbird202: ??? what was your likely letter for?

Wow I am in the vast minority of people who got under a 2300 :(. This is probably because 1. I kind of suck at standardized tests and 2. I refused to study for the SATs on principle - maybe not the greatest idea, lol. Well, hopefully the rest of my app will make up for it…

I don’t think standardized testing will matter as much for Yale as opposed to say, UCs. There are even people who claim that a 2200 = 2400 (a claim that upsets me very much because it undermines the difficulty to achieve a 2400, I might add.) But should it be true, then that’s even more reason not to worry about the SAT.

The way I see it there are three tiers for the SAT:

2400

2300-2390

2200-2290

Most unhooked applicants will be in the 2nd and first group.

I agree with that assessment. It’s difficult to appreciate how hard it is to get a 2400 unless you really gun for it. The difference between a 2320 and a 2400 is very significant, in my opinion. As a 2400, you basically can’t afford to miss ANY questions. You have to know ALL of the vocab, ALL of the grammar conventions for writing, etc. You don’t just study the bulk of what the test covers; you study the entire range.
