Oh awkward, i feel sort of silly now. I still like your idea though :)

19 days howās everyone feeling :P

Whisper12 thanks for the support. I really hope that the admissions committee feels the same way Haha

@ketchum seems like a great essay

Ahhhh 19 days. I think the reality of college decisions is slowly setting in. Hopefully getting some good news, but if I donāt, itās not the end of the world

The results for this are ridiculousā¦ http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/1043318-official-yale-class-2015-scea-results-thread.html

^ well thatāsā¦ less than encouraging

Yesā¦ that results thread is extremely intimidating.

weāll know for ourselves in 18 days :)

awesomenerd, if you are still in FL, it is actually 19 days and 4 hours awayā¦ Dec 17th at 5pm EST. But yesā¦ we will all know fairly soonā¦

lol im just counting to the 17th with no specific time

One trend I noticed about last years results thread were not a whole lot of people with athletics as their ec hoping that my 3 varsity sports will set me apart

What the results thread seems to demonstrate is that there is a minimum threshold for admittance and that beyond that Yale is looking for subjective elements within an applicantās file to fill or meet a perceived need or want at Yale in terms of diversity fulfillment or other goals toward creating a well-rounded class. Among these subjective elements, they are seeking athletes, artists and a host of other EC activists. They are also seeking geographic, ethnic and socioeconomic diversity. It also means that even stellar scores on tests and exceptional performance in the classroom is in many cases insufficient if your subjective extras do not meet a perceived want or need.

Yesā¦ this can be discouraging. But it also means that a Deferral or Rejection is not really an indictment of you as an applicant at all. If you meet those minimum standards and then fail to be offered admission, it is more likely due to factors that are outside of your control to a considerable degree. But there will be an elite school that could be looking for you to balance out the freshman class that they are seeking to create.

It has prompted my D to apply to one more elite school. She has now applied to 14 in total. One has replied with an acceptance already, so that leaves 13. She would still love to attend Yale, but having options should lessen the blow if she fails to gain admission there.

Good Luckā¦ only 437 more hours to goā¦

Thanks @WWWard. I never thought of it that wayā¦Well, only time will tell. Itās annoying that so much of the admissions process is out of our control, but it is what it is.

It is actually the way our local areaās admissions representative basically explained the process at our Yale info session. And looking at that results thread, it seems to be accurate.

I was excited for December 17th when I submitted, but now that weāre closer, Iāve actually become more apathetic toward it. Iād still love to go to Yale, obviously, but I kind of expect to get rejected. I liked my supplementary essay when I submitted, but now I kind of hate it. It was definitely unique but not sure if adcoms will like it. Plus, since Iām known as the āgeniusā at my school, everyone expects me to get in, and I dislike that. I know my chances are quite low.

apkid3, hereās a suggestionā¦ apply your energy to new school applications and that creative process. Get infatuated with a handful of prospective colleges and apply to each of them. Simply give yourself some options and then focus on the school you like that also pursues you. Focus on the match or matches and select the one you most like among the set of acceptances. Just a thoughtā¦ Good Luck

@apkid3 Sorry to hear that, but Iām in the same situation. People are expecting me to get in because of high standardized test scores/gpa, but most people donāt realize how incredibly unpredictable admission decisions are and that scores and gpa are not everything :(

how do we access our decisions on the 17th? Also, Iām curious why itās the 17th this year when it was the 14th last yearā¦

Apkid3 Iām in that boat with you and I just try to explain to them that its like buying a lottery ticket as long as you have the stats its all up to chance
