In my school there’s like an unwritten constitution everyone is following: “DONT TALK ABOUT IT.” We’re all trying to avoid stressing about it lol. I only know of one person other than me who is applying early action to Yale. However, I think at least 4 other people are applying to Yale for RD. Competition is stiff.
Hi guys! I’m from the Penn thread and I wish all of you the best of luck! I know this whole process has been incredibly stressful for all of us, but all you guys are awesome and amazingly qualified people! I hope you all get in!
Do you guys know if being born outside the country and living there for a while (coming as an immigrant) helps an applicant? Since I know how much Ivies love racial and ethnic politics in choosing decisions, I was wondering if that plays into it.
@SylvRsr Thank you so much! I’m sure your process has been equally stressful, and I know that you are also an amazingly qualified candidate! Best of luck to you as well and to others on your thread!! Remember, never give up no matter what the decision is. When do you get your results?
@strideforward Thank you!!! We get them on Friday… When do you guys get yours?
Tuesday of next week Let us know how it goes for you! @SylvRsr
@strideforward Of course! (ehh maybe not if I’m rejected =(( )
@strideforward What kind of school do you go to? Is it a private, competitive public school, etc?
Why must Yale make us wait so long
@Kasami Pretty competitive public school. Not extremely competitive. We had two kids get into princeton and cornell last year, one into Harvard, and the year before one into Yale. Some have gotten accepted into other competitive colleges. That’s about it. But my grade particularly has about 15 applicants to Ivy League schools. Pretty competitive grade.
What about you @Kasami
Hopefully it won’t come down to that! @SylvRsr
@strideforward It varies year by year, but we’re an average large public with a few outliers. Last year saw one Duke and one Yale, but competition in class ranking and etc drops off steeply outside the top 10. A few years back we had a particularly exceptional class which sent two to UPenn, one to Harvard, one to Columbia, and I think one to Stanford.
We’re known for our athletics, not our academics.
@strideforward @Kasami I find that so interesting because I go to a private school in Canada and we had 4 students go to UPenn alone (along with other students accepted to Princeton, Stanford, Columbia, Cornell, Brown, and Dartmouth) in a graduating class of <100
@strideforward In response to your comment about Harvard, maybe it’s because their decisions are tomorrow and everyone’s just getting really antsy. I don’t really know haha. They do have more applicants, but definitely not that many more. I quite like our thread though. If it got any more hyperactive I don’t know if I could keep up.
The Harvard board is HIGH STRUNG. I had to stop reading it - they were stressing me out.
I quite like ours too! Plenty for me to keep up with.
I swung by the Harvard thread and wished them luck tomorrow. I must confess I ended with a “Yale rules Harvard drools.” Immature? Maybe.
@jk1998 If you don’t get an interview, you still have just as much of a chance to get in. Of course, you don’t want to blow your interview, but maybe you just think you did terrible? Perhaps you’re being too critical of yourself…
During class yesterday, me and the other two Ivy League applicants (Brown and Princeton) in my grade started sending screenshots of rejection letters to each other HAHA. Just so we would get used to the (likely) heartbreak.
5 days. :-S Waiting is too painful.
I’ve googled Yale rejection letters too. Maybe if I already know what it say, it won’t be so hard to read. Haha!
