Yale Commencement Weekend

This is it!

I can't believe my D's 4 years at Y are over. She has loved (almost) every minute of it and is now looking forward to graduate school in Ann Arbor. Y was an excellent choice for her and she has really taken advantage of what it has had to offer. Commencement is this weekend and we leave for New Haven shortly.

Many thanks to all of you for your shared knowledge over the last 5 years. I will stay on this forum as S2 will be a high school senior next year and we get to go through the entire admissions process again.

Thanks again!

Congratulations!

UMDAD,
you can put your name on chairs on Sunday night in the old campus for the Monday morning ceremony… we did not know this and even though we got to old campus early on Monday, we were unable to find seats…use tape and dark markers… everyone seemed to honor those chairs that were already “taken” via name tags…

also, bring a silly hat for your daughter… as they do have a ceremony where they all wear silly hats instead of mortarboards…

I found commencement to be the closest thing I will ever get to a procession like the crusades or some old British castle thing… each college flag is flying up front… flags for the different graduate schools etc… it was soooo beautiful…and I believe you will have wonderful weather this weekend…

enjoy…I get to do it again in 2013… goosebumps already!!

Have fun! I hope you have great weather. Yale does a fabulous job on commencement.

Have a wonderful time UMDAD, and congratulations to your D! I’ll be in your position next year and can’t believe our D’s years at Yale are going by so quickly. I also have a rising HS senior, so I’ll see you on the ‘Parents of 2010’ thread.

maineparent, thanks for the tips. I’m taking notes…

Congratulations to your daughter! This will be a very special weekend and milestone. Soak it all in.

One of my daughters graduated college last May and the other graduated last week and what you wrote above about your D is exactly how we felt about our two D’s experiences at their respective colleges and it made it all so much worth it to be able to say that.

maineparent,

Thanks for the seating tip. I have passed it on to D so she can get prepped for our Sunday night “Seat Save” excursion on Old Campus.
