Yale Graduate Chemistry Program Questions

Hello,

I am beginning to look into graduate programs as I will finish up my undergrad soon. I am looking to participate in inorganic chemistry research through a Ph.D. program. I have aspirations to eventually pursue academia. Yale’s program has a few professors I have spoken with before and I have worked with some Yale graduate students in my lab at my undergrad. I would be interested in working with multiple professors who mainly do inorganic chemistry, the location is ideal, and the graduate students I met have been extremely helpful and insightful thus far. This is one institution I would really like to pursue in the future.

I am looking to get a better perspective on what it’s like to be a graduate student in Yale’s chemistry program. What are the courses like? Is the environment collaborative or competitive inside a lab? Is there constant pressure to publish?

I am hoping to find a balance between a large lab with lots of industry collaboration and a close knit group of graduate students looking to help one another. Any advice would be helpful!

Thanks.
