Yale Legacy

Do siblings count as legacy towards Yale? I have 2 kids, one that is in 8th grade and one that is part of Yale '19.

“Legacy” status where the applicant gets an automatic second reader does not apply to siblings. The fact that a sibling is/was a Yale student will be part of your younger kid’s info on the Common App, so there may some consideration given to that connection. At best it is worth a very small feather imo. While legacies have a higher admit rate than non-legacies, legacy admits these days generally have slightly higher than average stats than the general pool based on personal and group conversations I have had with the AO. Bottom line, your younger kid will need to have the entire package on his/her own.
