yale math/science undergraduate

Perhaps we could have the opinions of those who have actually gone to Yale and taken a few math/science classes. I don't appreciate posters disparaging/praising Yale's math or science departments without having had first hand experience with either. Anyone?

From what I've heard directly from several people who have gone through math and science majors there, the courses are unbelievable. I actually have seen a few myself, and even in some of the larger lectures of 60 people, the professor knew the name of every student and the class was more of a dialogue than a lecture.

Very different from the lectures at other top science schools I've sat through - in one, at MIT, all of the students were sitting at the back and half were asleep.

No one would expect you to have "heard" anything less, TROLLSTER!

This is what Science Watch" says about the schools it surveyed in 11 different scientific fields:

"Of the institutions here, none achieved greater distinction than Harvard University, which appears in seven of the eleven rankings, and in the top spot in all but one of those appearances (the exception being chemistry, where Harvard came in at #10). The University of Texas System also accounts for seven placements, while the University of California, San Francisco, is not far behind with six. Johns Hopkins University, the National Cancer Institute (NCI), and the University of Tokyo each score five appearances, with Stanford, Yale, the University of Washington, and Washington University of St. Louis each making four of the lists..."

Actually, according to http://www.sciencewatch.com/sept-oct...2002_page1.htm, the highest rated science departments by average placement are at Caltech, then Harvard and Yale.

Old data, TROLLSTER

To be fair, trolls shouldn't be able to call each other trolls.

Please. The TROLLSTER is in a class by himself.

Of course, you're certainly unbiased in your views!

It is not the "views" but the quality and reliabilty of information - with supporting stats - that counts. These are the areas where the TROLLSTER falls short.

However, the fact that you post links to harvard film studies sites in topics that explicitly say yale films studies sites is a little bit trollish

I find the Crimson article on developments in "film studies" programs nationally of interest wherever you plan to go.

I don't suppose you read it, "Stupak".

I'm sorry- I don't know how to read, "Byerly." It's surprising I made it this far.
