Hey everyone!
I’m Betty, a Canadian rising sophomore at Yale-NUS, most likely to major in economics. Crazy to think I was in your shoes a year ago. You will get through this whole college application process!
Just wanted to make myself available for anyone who has any questions about the school. I wouldn’t be the best to ask for more technical admissions stuff, like when acceptances are out, or when interviews are released, etc., but can give you some honest and candid opinions of the school.
Special shout out to those of you who are hesitant about Yale-NUS and “liberal arts”. I was a pre-professional business try-hard in high school (still am), and was deciding between Yale-NUS and Canadian business schools.
Anyways, feel free to shoot me an email at betty.pu@u.yale-nus.edu.sg! PM also works, but I would take longer to respond there.
Hello Betty, do you personally know anyone who made it off the waitlist? Or is that even possible?
If you have any suggestions regarding this, I’d be really grateful. Thanks.
Hi @linkinparkfan, personally no, no one from the waitlist.
If you mean you have been deferred from Round 1 (since final decisions haven’t come out I don’t know how you would be on a waitlist already), then yes, I’ve heard of students who have. It’s rumoured that they defer you to the next round if you’re in the running for a major scholarship; they just want to see the other applicants in the running for the same scholarship first.
Hi, I would like to ask about S$17,800 Supplementary Fee, or having a work obligation upon graduation. Can I avoid both options ??
@mdzhanieva i just attended EYW. i don’t think you can. you have to either pay the supplementary fee or work
@DEEPUSS what did you decide?
@danasunshine i don’t understsand?? are you asking about the tuition grant???
oh i have not really decided @danasunshine i need to make a call only when i join YNC though. i will probably work for max 2 yrs and then go to grad school. but def not work for three yrs.
@DEEPUSS Thanks for your reply! Hopefully, R2 applicants will get notified soon… How was Experience Yale-NUS Weekend?
@danasunshine it was amazing. Singapore is an absolutely beautiful place to be. The college was beyond my expectations. If you have any questions pls feel free to pm me. If I don’t know about something I’ll email somebody and get back to you.
Goodluck to you guys! Registration for EYW 2017 in May has opened up, so decisions should be coming out before May 1st and no later than May 6th.
@DEEPUSS Thank you so much! If I have any questions I will write to you. @ethanwatson4 thanks for the information. Why “before May 1st” though? :-/
Just speculation since round one EYW was due five days after decisions released, but I really don’t know
well its already may 1st… no one’s gotten any offers yet?
Yeah sorry, I meant on may 1st (5 days before like last time) but I am honestly just speculating
Do selected students get a notification online before they receive their package?
Hey guys…any clue when they’re releasing decisions?
As far as I know, they should notify selected students online before students receive their packages. Considering that EYW registration deadline is May 6th and they already sent out admission packages, decision notification day has to be today or tomorrow. But my speculation can be wrong…
Hey…How do you know that they already sent out packages? :c
