Yale-NUS College Class of 2023

@nerdydude uhhhh gpa is below average hahah some of my out of school ECAs like ballet, a bit of community service here and there and a MUN conference, and I have school ECAs like events club. I have also quite a bit of a work experience (quit my ECAs to work during after school hours) like waitressing, front desk and clinic assistant

Guys I got shortlisted for an interview!!!
But is there a deadline for arranging the date?

Hi!! I’m new here. I just stalked last year’s thread for the class of 2022. I’ve been following some of you seniors’ replies from the previous thread and I’d just like to congratulate everyone who got in! Yall seem quite close HAHA

On another note, I’ve just been shortlisted for an interview! I’m really excited, but also incredibly nervous since I’ve only gone for a few interviews in my life and many of those few didn’t go too well. :^/ My interview’s next monday and I know I need to practice and do research on YNC but I just don’t know what questions to ask myself to practice. Based on last years’ thread, it seems like ‘Why YNC?’ is a popular question… maybe in my next post I’ll share a bit of my rollercoaster experience of just submitting my application to give you guys context but right now I should go to schleep ??

I was admitted into Yale NUS in the previous pool. From my experience, I can say that interview is not that hard. They just ask you about your favorite class in school and why is that so. Then they ask about things that interest you. If you know what you are passionate about, you will do pretty well on the interview! All the best

When did you guys apply? Can you give me some stats?

congrats for those who got the interview!! i know someone got asked “what is a recent film you watched tbat inspired you” i do think the interview will be very much about getting to know you as a person more

@Kimi_Hana hmm I read last year’s thread, and I believe someone did post about 10 questions they were asked during the interview! I think you can prepare by those, but more importantly make sure to know fully why you chose YNUS, your ambitions and your interests. As long as you’re confident in answering these three things I’m sure you’ll be able to answer any question they ask you well. all the best! also I’m curious, when did you submit your application?

any updates on the duke interview?

i am still hoping that i would get shortlisted for an interview… (fingers crossed)

@DaRealYI @Kimi_Hana omg y’all got your invitations in the middle of the night? ? congrats on getting it tho!!

@meggpiee me too

@lucas2695 I submitted my application on the 18th of March through CommonApp. But I really only finalized everything on the 1st of April. And I got my interview letter the next day!

@madhutgm I managed to gather some questions posted by the user @RayLiSingapore from last year’s thread, actually! And thank you so much for your tips! I’ll make sure to keep them in mind when practising! Also, I submitted my application on the 18th of March but really only got my teachers’ references and school report submitted on the 1st of April.

@songq123 LMAO I think I got it sometime in the evening. I remember I happened to be in the car with my mom talking about the application when I realised I received their mail. I almost screamed when I found out I got an interview HAHA. I hope you get your letter soon!!

@ninja11 I see. I’m just worried that my ‘passions’ are only mere interests at best. But since I have an interest in them, and I do have future ambitions planned based on this interest, I guess I could talk about it as a ‘passion’? I don’t know if that makes any sense. <:^/

Now it feels like next Monday is coming too soon and I’m slowly starting to get nervous HAHA. Do yall think I should postpone my interview date? LMAOO

@DaRealYI Congrats on getting shortlisted too! I also wanna know if there’s a deadline for booking an interview slot since I’m starting to reconsider my appointment HAHA

@Kimi_Hana what do u mean by you finalized everything on the first of april? wasnt the app due on march 20th? and are you talking about the duke medicine pathway?

for those who got the interview, when did you send in your application?

I actually submitted mine on March 19 (one day before the deadline for round 2 applicants).
I’m doing my interview tomorrow so yeah HOPE IT GOES WELL.

@Kimi_Hana omg girl/dude chillax hahaha I heard that the interview is really chill!! Like I spoke to a current student and he told me the first question the interviewer asked was what he had for lunch? I mean I haven’t experienced the interview myself so I can’t say much, so I can only speak from other people’s experience.

@nerdydude Yeah, so like I submitted my CommonApp application on the 18th of March. But I wasn’t able to get my teachers’ references then since I totally forgot it was the school holidays. So actually, I gave up on applying to YNC. But then they messaged me on the 27th of March telling me that the deadline for the references and other related documents were April 1st. So technically, I finalized my application on the 1st of April.

@waterandsun Sent in my application on the 18th of March and completed it with teachers’ reference on the 1st of April.

@DaRealYI !! I’m sorry this is late but I guess you’ve done your interview? I hope it went well!!

@songq123 That’s a very big relief! I just hope I answer the harder questions well, though. Do you think they’ll ask you anything related to your application? Like the essays and quick takes and all that?

Yo y’all I finished my interview earlier today!
The interviewer was really nice so don’t worry guys.
Good luck to those waiting for an interview opportunity and those who r gonna do it soon!

YOOOO got shortlisted for the duke- NUS interview. Who else?

Do you think they will still send out interview invites for more candidates up to this point or are they pretty much done with interviewing for the second round? I am not mentioning the Duke or the Law double programs.

@lucas2695 round 2 referring to the one that closed on 20 march? yes! my friend just got hers this morning.
