Yale-NUS College Class of 2023

@zhaooooooo yeah fam i am hella anxious and nervous… Its all for the best

hey guys but WHEN IN THE DAY do decisions come out? I think I once heard it comes out in the afternoon (? idk

@pinguuuu i’m assuming you’re a local applicant not serving ns? if so then i think it would come down to whether you really 100000% want to be in yale nus haha, i guess the safest route would be to keep an open mind and accept a local uni first, then you’ll have a year to work on reapplying next year while working on your portfolio~ and who knows you might even end up loving whichever uni you end up attending!!

@DaRealYI I stalked back a bit and someone posted this before: ‘Well, in the first two years, they released around 7 to 9pm. After that, 2016, 2017, 2018 were all around noon. So, worst case scenario, they go backwards and release at 9pm >>’, so I guess there isn’t a fixed pattern to it! :frowning:

@spnnnxh - that’s helpful - hope the results don’t get delayed to May, normally released before 1st May…right?

Yeah most likely before May 1st

@spnnnxh yeap im a local appilcant… yeah my best option is to jus see if any other local uni offers me a decent course that im somewhat interested in and jus see how that goes first !! but the only thing is idw to waste money !!! i cld do some internship or smthg instead of going to uni first …

also idk if i wld be able to get teachers to write recommendations agn for a second round of application ??? like idt they wld remember me till next year or willing to wrote agn ???

@pinguuuu I’m not sure about the recommendations but personally, I would let my teachers know that I’ll be applying again the next year and ask them to hold onto my recommendation letter until then. You should check in from time to time again from now to next year so they still have your recommendation letter and remember you. They should be willing to… I mean… it’s part of their job lmao. But that’s of course if you don’t accept offers from other universities first. :^O

@pinguuuu you shouldn’t be having any problem with reobtaining recommendation letters from your current teachers. Otherwise, it really depends on the course of action you take i.e taking a gap year means you will use existing letters or any other you would have by that time for e.g employment, etc but if you enroll somewhere else then it means new letters of recommendations

Hi!

I am from the Class of 2023 round one admits! I just signed up upon seeing this thread; I relied on Reddit and the Yale-NUS Admissions email mostly for my college application process.
I’m not sure how much I can help given that it is this late into the app process, but I want to say I am rooting for all of you! I can’t wait to see new people in our admitted students group very, very soon!

For a sampler of what Experience Yale-NUS is like, check out this Instagram account some of us made: yale.nus.2023

I also backread to look for any questions I can clarify, but I felt that they were mostly answered. Feel free to ask me anything!

welcome aboard @noscofe

@noscofe - congrats! you must be on cloud nine.?.

I submitted both my fin aid and did my interview in late march, but around 18 Apr they e-mailed me, asking for additional financial aid details. I hope this is a sign!! >_<

@areeb85 - thank you!

@applicant11 - yes, certainly!!! Visiting Yale-NUS, my dream school, for Experience Yale-NUS Weekend was very UNREAL. I fell in love with the place and people so much (despite being a socially awkward potato), and they also gave me the best financial aid (practically a full ride!!!) so I rejected large research universities in different countries and accepted the offer omg

@zhaooooooo - not necessarily a guarantee, but this does mean you are under consideration! Best of luck!!!

Also, I cannot comment reliably on when they will release decisions, but they don’t appear to be following a particular consistent pattern. We were waiting for April 1st but suddenly the emails dropped on March 22nd and I screamed in school lmao

@zhaooooooo same here! Hope we both get in!

@spnnnxh thank you reply (and for the reassurance!) Sorry for popping up out the blue, I completely forgot about this forum hahah. I too am anxiously awaiting results. Hope all of us get offers!

@pinguuuu Made a CC account just to let you know: you don’t have to worry about your teacher recommendations.

I was in your position last year and I’ve applied again this year. There is an option for you to reuse the teacher recommendations from your previous application. Look for the drop down menu and you simply have to click on the ones you want to reuse.

Cheers and all the best to those who are hoping to get in to YNC!

@DaRealYI Fingers crossed!! Only 1 or 2 more days to go!

@Joshhh thank you for taking the time to create an account just to reply me !! appreciate it ??‍♀️

also thank u for lettinng me know that i can reuse teacher recommendations… good luck and hope u get into yalenus

Jeez the wait is stressing out

I agree, waiting is hard. At this moment don’t know how I will react if I get admitted and also if I don’t get it. The admission process is strange, (to say the least), an important life lesson. Wishing you people all the best.
