@marcbulldog thank you so much!! That was so helpful. I’m proficient in Russian and Spanish, which is one of the reasons why I like international studies so much. A question about interviews - do you sign up or are you offered one upon applying?
@rebecca12345 I signed up for one in the admissions office as I was attending Yale’s summer program (Yale Young Global Scholars Program). So there was a sign up sheet for interviews. I think that outside of the YYGS program, you submit your application and then they schedule an alumni interview wherever you live.
Great, Russian and Spanish are two most useful languages (outside of Chinese). Definitely an argument to be made about you working in foreign service to broker relations with Russia, Latin American, or Central American countries.
If you want to have an interview at Yale, you can go online and schedule one. Since most applicants can’t come to New Haven, the Alumni Schools Committee (ASC) in your area schedules interviews. It depends on where you live and how many alumni live in the area. I am an alumnus that does interviews in the DC area. Most, if not all, of our applicants are scheduled. Yale also have moved toward Skype interviews for those students who do not have alumni nearby. Do not worry if you do not have an interview. Applicants get in without them. Good luck!!
Anyone writing their supplements? I’m stuck on the course topic one
Hey guys! Just wanted to say that I’m super excited to be applying to Yale SCEA with you all!
how are you guys answering the dynamic question? no need to be specific just curious
I’m writing my supplements! @hhjjlala
Which dynamic question? @technogirl21
All the 35 word ones are so tough for me! I feel at least okay about all my 100-200 word ones, but the 35 word ones have me feeling so iffy!
for the one about teaching a yale course, are you guys briefly explaining what it would be about or simply titling the course?
Both! @samsunguser
@samsunguser how are you supposed to explain it if you only get 35 words to answer the question?
I hate how the “Why Yale” essay limits to a hundred words. I feel like as a result my writing is too rushed and chippy. At least 250-300 would’ve been suitable!
*choppy
@rebecca12345 It’s possible! You just need to find the right wording. I did!
IDK I’m finding myself only emphasizing the residential college system… which thousands of others will do lol
@rebecca12345 Why Yale was so tough! Did everyone stick to the 100 words? It lets you put in 120 so I put in 120…I think I might change it though, but getting rid of those 20 words is going to be impossible!
It would be a good idea to stick to the guidelines. I myself have 98 words.
@berkdork I got 99 words haha
@hhjjlala @DreamforIvy lol! For my Brown essays, I have 100 words, 100 words, 150 words, and 150 words. (the word limits are 100 words for two, and 150 for the other two) hahahahhaa. The word limit struggle is certainly real.
