Yale vs. Columbia

Hi! I am thinking of applying to either Columbia or Yale. The differences that I know are that Columbia has a core curriculum while Yale does not. And Columbia has less of a campus life but its in New York City and Yale has more campus scene. However, these differences dont matter much to me. So I am not sure if I am missing any major differences that should I know about.

Please tell me the major differences between yale and columbia, thanks!

here's another thread that discusses comparative features at length, although involving Princeton rather than Yale. Take from it what you will:

I don't think anyone's interested in typing out huge responses like I did there, unless you have more specific questions.

Yale 37, Columbia 3.

trust me when i tell you that it was worse in person.

So last year. Did you not see how the Lions rolled over Fordham this past weekend?

Yeah, they went down like an altar boy.

cringes

remember when cumb was a witty organization?

no?

neither do i.

you've clearly never been to Orgo night. Or, failing that, you clearly have no sense of humor.

Most of the orgo night posters out there - just the flyers - are freakin' hilarious.

I went to the Spring '05 Orgo Night and didn't find it the least bit funny (sex jokes! drinking jokes! ivy league jokes! administration jokes! political jokes! look at us!). Yes, I have a sense of humor, but sadly I think it's a bit too advanced for the petty grasping-at-straws humor articulated routinely by CUMB. Maybe it has something to do with M. Diane Murphy screening / censoring scripts. In fact, it's gotten to the point where the athletics department doesn't even bother to recognize CUMB as an affiliated "spirit" organization. Either way, last Saturday I took out a book at the half and was more amused with the antics of our modern presidents.

The Orgo Nights have been going consistently downhill since I was a freshman in '03-'04. Either that, or the jokes are just old and recycled. Still, it's no longer anything as daring or brazen as the Fall '03 Orgo Night that prompted a man to scream violently in protest during the event...
