I was just informed this Saturday that I was accepted to Yale off the waitlist. Yale had initially been my first choice school (I applied SCEA, was deferred, waitlisted, and finally accepted!), however, I have grown very attached to Penn (SAS) over the past 5 weeks. I am interested in studing either Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Penn or Ethics, Politics, and Economics at Yale (basically the same major) and I will most likely attend law school after graduation. Additionally, I am interested in participating in Mock Trial, a cappella, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in college. Aside from my academic and extra-curricular activities, I enjoy having fun and I guess I would refer to myself as "social." I want to be in an academic, intellectual enviroment which is simultaneously laid-back and a lot of fun. Any suggestions??? Thanks! (I have until May 19th to decide)

def do Yale! it’s pre-law will be AMAZING

can’t go wrong with either one. Go with the one that makes most $$$ sense

Yale’s admit rate is ~7% and UPenn’s admit rate is ~15% .
Yale is one of the most prestigios school in the world.
Penn is 2nd easiest Ivy and it is widely accepted as bottom Ivy.
Do you really want to spend next 4 years at a school like Penn ?? with Penn people ??

Why are you differentiating between universities based on admit rates? Admit rates should really play no part in differentiating between two colleges you want to attend, and if you really want to play that card, UPenn is house to Wharton School of Business that has an overall acceptance rate of 5-6% - that’s lower than Harvard.

To the OP, choose the place where you think you will feel most at home, and do NOT at any cost follow the advice of gugupo.

Wharton UG web site says admit rate is about 12%
From 5500 applicants, 650 admitted for the class size of 500.

You are actually proving yourself to be really ■■■■■■■■ gugupo, do you know that those numbers are not for wharton exclusively? The class size you speak of also takes into account the double degree students and that the number of applicants is only for wharton? Can you get your little brain to process these facts? I am guessing you won’t so I will tell you, that data cannot be used to calculate an acceptance rate!!! Whoa that was hard, made me sweat…

greenexcess shows the typical inferiority complex that most Penn people have.
You don’t want to be at a school like Penn.
Go to Yale.

You should never take advise from an i d i o t, and that is a fact!

dont you have anything more?? is that all you got?? inferiority complex?? hahah come on!! give me more!! get your little brain going, if you can…

greenexcess got rejected from HYPSM. Don’t listen to him.

HAHAHAH as I said you pathetic creature, I did not apply to HYPSM, look at my first post to prove that I am not lying. Where do you go BTW? crap college or dumb college? Noo, not even them, you are a loser and you have proven it time and time again. Loser

and why would not getting into HYPSM affect my credibility? I am not ■■■■■■■■, unlike you.

LOL. If you are not ■■■■■■■■ loser, why are you at Penn ?

I am sure dan92 will choose Yale after seeing all of your posts today.

hahaha what my posts defending penn from a lying loser?

I did my undergrad at Yale and my grad (MBA) at Penn. No contest at all - do your undergrad at Yale. Amazing undergrad focus, more selective, and a great residential life. You will find lots of Yalies that also got into Penn but very few Penn students that got into Yale. Congrats - both great choices, but, on the margin, Yale wins.

Yes Yale wins

I love Yale !

I would choose Yale, although Penn is also excellent. I don’t necessarily agree that the education is better - I can’t fathom why it would be - but Yale is definitely better known, and if that matters to you, you should choose Yale.

It certainly matters to gugupo :). Who was rejected from both schools, so it’s strange to see him/her/it so jubilant, but whatever.

I would contest this last point:

If that’s true, it’s certainly not by a large margin, and it’s more a factor of popularity than difference in selectivity.

Call me crazy, but in my personal experience that’s been the case. I know several Yalies who were rejected from Penn, several who got in, and several Penn students who got into Yale (both SAS and Wharton).

Yale is more prestigious, but no longer for good reason.

I’m surprised noone has refuted gugupo’s claim that penn is a bottom ivy, which is a complete lie.
