@techilliterate I don’t think AP scores are important. I would say the priorities are 1. Essays 2. Recs 3. GPA 4. SAT I 5. SAT II
@yerin2021 Applied to IAS and PLE
@koreanconnect98 I kind of wished I didn’t mention mine because now my application has been marked as incomplete because I “lack a score report”. I applied to PLE.
@Ahmeda14960 I think you can still send your report via email. BTW where are you from?
Hey. Idk what just happened but my app got submitted and the portal didnt ask for any application fee. They told me via e-mail that I had been given a fee waiver but I don’t remember submitting any fee waiver. Otherwise, they are telling me that everything is set. Am I supposed to worry about this thing?
Hey! I also applied to Biomed! I’m honestly so excited for results but it is six weeks from now approx haha

Did anyone put any second choices, and third choices? I only said I wanted to be considered for my first choice so idk if it will impact my application in any way
I put TIE as first choice and PLE second. anyone else apply to TIE?
@gdpast323 put it as 3rd choice after IAS and PLE
@KoreanConnect98 OK, thank you! That makes my mind much more at east, phew. @yayaylearner I’m not sure either, the only way I can think of how it changes your app. is if it could possibly increase your chances due to the fact you only have one option? Idk for sure though, most likely it wouldn’t have too large of an impact.
@KoreanConnect98 I was born in Sudan, but I’ve been living on the Eastern Shore of Maryland since 2008. I actually got my U.S. citizenship last year around this time.
@yayaylearner Same here! I’ve applied for Biomed alone (fingers crossed).
BTW what did everyone put as the reason for wanting to become a YYGS scholar?
@KoreanConnect98 i wrote something about everyone in morocco saying that women are not made for stem majors and how i want to stand as a paradigm for all moroccan girls and that YYGS is the first step towards that
@KoreanConnect98 I put that I wanted to be a scholar because my county marginalizes social sciences and constantly pushes STEM ( They shut down the mock trial team in my school, and have EVERY science and math AP offered, but only APUSH and APGOPO). Basically, I said that I wanted to go somewhere I could focus specifically on the topics that I love. Nothing major, but it was honest so I hope they took it well.
I’m a real history buff, and I love reading about day to day economics and politics, so I made sure to hit on the fact that I have reached out to learn about these subjects. the fact that it is Politics Economics AND Law was a little too perfect, so I hope they don’t think I’m a try hard, as I am genuinely interested in these topics.
Does anyone know the exact day we find out?
@ksenia12343 it was around april 2 last year so probably then or earlier and good luck!!
Just curious to all who applied (and best of luck).
What is your goal to participate in this summer program?
@Ahmeda14960 in my country it’s the exact opposite. women are forced to pursue jobs in literature and stuff, because engineering and physics are supposedly ““for men””
