yeah..life in the bible belt..

"Life in the south must suck."

Depends on where in the south you live.;)

Obviously some places are more cosmopolitan than others

Wow, just wow. I've never realized how lucky I am to live in NY. If an administrator told me to find jesus, I would never return to that school again. You're kidding me...
crosses Emory off her list

... What bible belt is Emory in? Atlanta = NYC with an accent.

Obviously not all South is like that. My fairly liberal friend told me that he liked Emory a lot.

speaking of metropolitan areas--cary is a suburb of chapel hill, arguably the most liberal city in the south. kind of sad that this could happen here of all places..

Ah, I love New York life.

Me too. I was sitting on the floor in French class today. I looked around me. I saw an East Asian, a Colombian, a Dominican Republican, and a Caucasian, and I'm Indian.

I <3 diversity.

Atlanta is decent itself... but the suburbs shudders I've lived in a suburb of Atlanta for almost all of my life and if I had a dime for every time some told me that I "need to find Jesus" or that I'm going to hell, I wouldn't have to post on this site because I wouldn't need to go to college.

That is the biggest reason why I am going to Boston for college. The South is a horrible place to grow up for a Jew.

are you jewish, silver?

around where is the bible belt?
I'm new to the USA... and I'm considering Emory...

its the southern states.

is california arizona & texas in the bible belt?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible_belt

great thanks!!

Atlanta is a real cool place, but I was scared going into areas around Atlanta. Bible belt is one freaky ass place tp live.

i went to texas last year and got beat up.

don't make fun of the southern accent.

they are really really good fighters.

Religious toleration (or lack thereof) is getting really absurd in some parts of America.

Seriously.

I lived in Charlotte and went to Church there once. All they talked about was killing the homosexuals and the 'abortionists'. It scared me. Also, why can't you buy alcohol on Sundays before 12? That's just a stupid law. Down in parts of the South there is no religious tolerance- that word hasn't even been heard of.

well, up here in ct you can't buy alcohol from grocery stores after 8pm or at all on sundays, haha, i guess it goes back to our puritan roots

That just annoys me. I live in the middle of a heavily Catholic state and alcohol is probably the only thing you can buy on Sundays.
