Hi. I am applying to Binghamton (2008-2009) and am wondering what my chances are.

GPA- 92.5
SAT- Math 720 Reading 650 Writing 660
AP classes- 0

Extra Curriculars
Varsity Wrestling Captain (3rd place NYC)
Volunteering (400 hours)
Judo (brown belt)
Historical Society (officer)
Slavic Heritage Society (officer)
Film Club
Philosophy Club

if you have been reading all the recent postings here in the binghamton forum about who did and who did not get in early action and who got deferred, i would think you would realize that you are unlikely to get very meaningful input on a "chances" thread. many people were surprised by the early action results so far -- why would you think they can give you a reasonable prediction as to how you will fair next year?

clearly you have a decent gpa and sat scores. the failure to take any ap's even though they are available will hurt you. but, wrestling may help you (are you good enough for div 1?). who here can say how much? also realize that different schools within binghamton are of different difficulty in terms of admissions (none are easy, but they vary in terms of just how selective).

binghamton is not unrealistic for you, but given how increasingly competitive admissions is getting each year, please don't rely on what people may respond on a "chances" thread.

[edit -- you say applying 2008-09 -- not clear to me if you mean applying in fall 2008 for fall 2009, or applying now for 2008-09 freshman entry -- if the former, you'll get to see more info re what happened this year; if the latter, the stats posted above are what you should consider]

I agree with what has been previously said. While no one can say for sure based on the stats from EA round, not taking APs/advanced courses is going to hurt you. To my knowledge, especially in SOM, Binghamton wants to see a well rounded student doing well, but challenging themselves. Taking advances/IB/AP courses shows them this.

I don't have any ap classes but a good portion of my classes were honors. I have been in Social Science Research (INTEL), which is a college level course, for 3 years.

You're probably going to be accepted. I am a freshman here and my grades/scores/extracurriculars weren't that good. But I took quite a few AP classes.
