w-t-f people, I finished all of my essays the night before each was due. And they were marvelous, because I had weeks and months to brainstorm and come up with the best ideas. YMMV.

This whole college admissions craze is just becoming more and more nuts as the competition increases. No one needs to start their CA essays this early, though … or finish them before the CA is even out. They’re only deleting last year’s data tonight - Friday the 13th!

My counselor told me that the UC prompts and the Common App prompts will be the same this year as last year. So he recommended that I start as soon as possible!

EVERYONE tells me they regret not starting their essays over the summer. Anyways, it’s basically the last factor of your application that you can control, so why not put in the most time and effort that you can?

Just wrote a new common app essay… Not sure if I like it more than the first?

UC BERKELEY…

Struggling with my essay ; ~ ;

Done with the first draft of what I think will be my common app essay. I like it; it’s funny but heartfelt.

I have ideas for most of my supplements, which is half the battle. Anyone working on the Williams “look out your window” supplement?

The UNC supplement questions are soo weird and random. I’ll have a tough time starting one of those. I’ll just wait until the school year starts to stress though.

I’m applying to 10 schools, including 4 Ivies. Trying to go for some balance, I have 2 “high reaches”, 2 “low reaches”, 3 “matches”, and 3 safeties.

I have written 1 essay so far, just to kind of get the ball rolling, I don’t know if I’ll submit it. I guess it would fall under the “most significant person” topic which I think is a pretty good bet.

I think I have my Common App essay down, but I’m not entirely sure if I want to use it as such.

I have Essay A and C on ApplyTexas. I just need to finish Essay B!
Applications open on Weds., Aug. 1st!!!
I’m so excited.
I hope mine are good. I really need them for scholarships rather than admissions because I am a auto-admit, at the moment. :)

I finished my Common App essay finally (after a ton of revising). And I think I really like it. I’m looking forward to getting my counselors feedback on it. I’m a Tulane hopeful.

hey guys, i have a question re: the georgetown supplement for SFS. it requires you to discuss a global issue and your solution to it. So, if the issue I describe has already been resolved by the time I submit my app, does that count against me?

You guys are making me feel like such a slacker. I haven’t started on anything yet. Heck, I still have summer assignments that need doing before I go back on the eighth. D=

Also, to the person who asked if anyone was applying to Columbia: me! I think I’m learning toward ED, but I’m not 100% sure, so we’ll just have to see come November.

I write my best personal essays when I’m at church, deliberately ignoring the pastor’s droning.

The chair is not too soft, nor too firm, and there’s no chance of an abrupt noise breaking me from my work for an entire hour as everyone else spaces out into reveries…

How far are you guys?!

Personal statement and activity statement are done and approved by the college counselor, as well as one supplement essay for my Early and all my Early quick-takes.
Currently plugging away at the last two essays for my Early (due oct. 12th because I have an art supplement… yikes!) as well as the National Merit essay.

@harborceal…what school’s early deadline is oct 12, if you don’t mind me asking?

No problem! I am doing REA to Stanford, with a live theater audition. That deadline is oct 15th, but according to my college counselor I should have it a few days before the deadline to avoid server problems.

My biggest fear is working on one Common App essay for so long and then realizing that there’s another, far better topic you should’ve written. D:
