So, I just submitted my FAFSA, here's what I got:

1.Estimated Expected Family Contribution (EFC) = 00909
2.Pell Grant Estimate - $4,600.00
3.Direct Stafford Loan Estimate - $5,500.00
4. You may also be eligible to receive other federal, state, or institutional grants, scholarships, and/or work-study.

I know that I could find myself all of the information about what this all means, but filling out FAFSA took away all of my energy and I cannot read computer screen any longer. So, I'm just gonna ask you guys.

What do 1-4 mean and what should I do next?

Thanks in advance.

It means that, if the information you used to complete your FAFSA remains the same (that is, you don’t change any info, or it is not reviewed, or verified, by colleges - or if it is reviewed and nothing changes), you are guaranteed the Pell grant and Stafford loans if you attend full time.

It means nothing else. You have to wait until each school sends you a financial aid award letter to know what other aid the school was able to offer you. Aid is not always the same from school to school.

What school(s) are you interested in attending?

It means that based upon the info you entered you’re eligible for federal, and likely state, grants. Make sure you file your state’s aid application if required (there may have been a link when you submitted FAFSA). And update your FAFSA when your parents have their taxes filed.

The school(s) you applied to will use that info to prepare a financial aid package. It’s likely you may get some other aid including SEOG, federal work study, Perkins loans and institutional grants if the school offers them. You can find info on those programs at finaid.org. While you’re waiting to get the FA award letter from schools, you could ask your GC about local scholarships that you can apply for.
