This is off topic but I want to get the opinion of the younger demographics on this board.

I don't really buy this electric car fad and certainly could give a flying crap about the environment or the fiction known as global warming, but test drove a Tesla over the weekend and it was awesome. The performance, the handling, the interior beats other cars I have tested in similar/slightly lower price ranges by a mile.

My concern is if a Tesla would be considered a young person car. For instance, a Caddy CTS, regardless of how they redesign it, will always be an old person's car; but I would have absolutely no hesitation driving most Mercedes C/E-Class, a BMW 3/5 series or an Audi A5/6. A lot of the youngest guys at my office drive these. I don't see any Teslas here though, by either young or old coworkers.

So, all you young guys here, where does the Tesla fall in the "young person car" to "old person car" spectrum in your opinion? Could you see yourself driving one?

Considering the fact that most of us aren’t the banker type that you are, we have less money to spend on cars. Tesla simply isn’t in the price range to be a young person’s car.

For the lay person a Tesla is a fine car.

My Dad’s friend drives a Tesla model S. He’s a 50 yo dental surgeon. Tesla’s are sick. How is it a young person’s car if they cost like $75,000? A young guy with one is successful, an old guy with one is hip. Coolest car on the road.

It says you’re green, bearcats. Can you live with that? ;)

^ChoatieMom, is there a way I can modify the Tesla aftermarket so it will emit gas nonetheless? I hate being green.

What is wrong with being green?? Even if you don’t believe global warming is real (despite the overwhelming scientific evidence and consensus within the scientific community), there are other reasons to be concerned about the environment. There’s the depletion of non-renewable natural resources, pollution with serious negative health effects for humans and animals, and destruction of a myriad of different habitats and ecosystems, to name a few.

“I don’t really buy this electric car fad and certainly could give a flying crap about the environment or the fiction known as global warming,”
Electric cars actually cause more harm to the environment due to the mining the unusual metals that make the awesome batteries that power them. It is a status thing for one to buy electric/hybrid vehicles as they can afford it and make the claim that they are also staving off global warming. Disregarding global warming is just willful ignorance.
As a “young guy” I actually see it more as a mature persons car not the other way around. My gpa has bought all sorts of hybrids/ electric cars and enjoys them very much.

lol you sound so unlikeable. anyway, if you aren’t young, it doesn’t matter what car you drive, it will be like an “old persons” car. one of my friends drives a van (im 20 and he is 21), but i never think about how most people who drive vans are older parents. just think for yourself and buy what you like.
