@shysquid If this isn’t me then I don’t know what is lool

I have a feeling that YoungArts is going to send emails out either Monday or Tues, or over the course of the two days. Seeing as that’s what they did for finalist calls.

@AsexualAnt yeah, i dm’d youngarts about the release of hm&merit emails and they said they should be sent before the winners’ list is made public–both of which should happen by november 26 (next tuesday).

in a sense this is better for them to do since it gives just enough time for winners to confirm their place for the regional programs.

How hard is it to get selected for a regional program?

when will the emails be sent out ahhh

Last year, my daughter received her YoungArts email announcing that she was an Honorable Mention winner on Wednesday, Nov. 14th so maybe they’ll stick with Tuesday & Wednesday for notifications? Hard to say for sure. The email title was “Congratulations from YoungArts.” As far as how many they take for Regionals, it’s also hard to say. The good news is that winners can only attend once so that gives the first-time winners a good shot. They have 3 separate Regional Week Locations (LA, Miami & NYC) so a lot depends on number of winners in your region. Also, many winners don’t realize how competitive it is to attend, so they take their time responding to the invitation to attend Regionals. Everyone here knows you click immediately, right? Don’t delay! So a quick response gives you an advantage. But they only take a few per discipline so there are no guarantees. I think my daughter was the only Pop Voice winner invited to the NYC Regional, but there were a few in the Voice category for theatre and jazz. I know someone who waited 18 minutes to respond who did not get in when she won merit but got in the next year because she responded fast. I also know someone whose email went to junk mail and they didn’t realize it until several days later. Due to some other glitches, YoungArts did a reset for some students and this particular applicant ended up getting in.

So this will be the final “waiting and stressing” week and hopefully we will see lots of good news here! Hang in there!

I thought the website said this year selection for regional programs is being done by lottery system?

Someone on this thread said that they DMed YoungArts & YA said that the winners list would be released by the 26th, which is Tues.
If that’s true, then I’m assuming all emails will be sent on the 25th.

Although I’m not sure of the accuracy of this, so I wouldn’t take my word for it.

Anyone else heard anything??

Oh ok, this may be a change then. I was under the impression that the quicker response = better chances. But maybe last year was a lottery too and my daughter just got lucky. I do believe that it shouldn’t matter whether you are merit or HM, both should have an equal chance. When you are at the Regional Week, nobody knows who was merit vs. HM as they don’t split them up into categories.

From the website:
How are attendees chosen?
Eligible winners who submit their request to attend a program are added to a waitlist based on their specific geographic region. Acceptance into a regional program is determined by the winner’s discipline/category and then via lottery selection.

And wow-I knew about the Nov. 26 date for the finalist list but I guess I wasn’t paying attention to the calendar that it’s THIS Tuesday! So looks like Monday (tomorrow) may be a busy day of notifications! Exciting!

Uh oh. Wishing everyone the best of luck! Let’s get those HM and merit dubs!

I’ve been on-and-off this thread, but would like to wish everyone good luck for Monday.

What time are the emails sent out? Good luck everyone !!

Not sure what time emails will be sent but my daughter received her email last year (11/14/18) at 3:29pm EST. I remember her calling me right after school with so much excitement and I told her to pause the celebration and click on that link to RSVP for the Regionals (someone had warned me she had to act fast!) After she did that, we continued the celebration! lol.

Good luck to everyone tomorrow!! Does anyone know the amount of people usually chosen for regional programs?

@onepiecefreak16 usually under 500 hm & merit winners combined i believe, on top of around 150 finalists. i’m pretty sure i read earlier in the forum that winners make up of an estimated 10% of the applicant pool, with finalists being the top 1-2%.

also best of luck to everyone!
