Your experience. (teacher student ratio)

Hi!

Many of CC users are in a university. Which means that most of your classes are probably HUGE (couple of hundred students or even close to a thousand students)

I know many cons of having a large class size, but may I ask your experience / thoughts?

Though I don’t know much pro’s of a huge class size, what are they?

Did you get higher grades in larger class size then a smaller class size?

Thanks!

Those are really good questions! I wanna know now.

P.S. You probably thought you were getting an answer when you saw a reply. I apologize for duping you.

I’ve been in both extremely small classes (six students including myself) and large classes (upwards of 150 students).

I prefer the large classes. The small classes are a little too intimate for me (professor notices everything you do—which could be bad or good) and I actually find it easier to concentrate in larger classes.

On the opposite spectrum, unless you’re active, in larger classes you’re more of a number to the professor, versus in smaller classes they actually know your name and your abilities, weaknesses, strengths, etc.

Depending on the type of class: I prefer a large class for science-related and a small class for math-related (because I suck at math and usually need extra help, which is hard to get in a huge lecture.)

bump… please more people comment…

I go to a state school, and I’ve had mostly classes with 25-40 people. I’ve had like two huge classes, but overall, the size of the classes has been irrelevant.
