Your favorite kind of posts..

You just don't know the difference between sarcasm and reality apparently. Seriously, we're here to help, but that doesn't mean holding your hand and leading you to the promised land.

What? Okay since you obviously know everything about me right..I have no idea what reality is and I'm living in a dream world thinking there's any way I can attend college with straight As all through high school. I should just go bother a community college now right? Like I seriously expect you to "lead" me anywhere, I work for what I have. I asked for your opinion and you gave it to me. I said thanks already now bug off my post.

Dont ask for chances if you dont want to accept/believe/consider them.

Ill keep the rest of my opinions to myself, but I give you all my luck come March 31st.

Good Luck

well I would give your opinion merit if I thought you were being sincere. I respect you wanting to keep your opinions to yourself this thread didnt turn out to a nice discussion like I had hoped. So basically I have little chance. I have other schools to fall back on so I'm not completely bummed.

Your GPA and class rank are good, and everyone can see that you're a talented musician.
Now if you could switch your math and writing scores, you might be in business. Did you take the ACT?

Haha yes I very much wish I could switch my math and writing scores. I took the ACT but had to leave the testing and my Dad wouldn't pay for me to take anymore tests. That SAT score is the one I submitted. If it helps my rec was done by my math teacher I had for 4 years and he really liked me. My counselor talked about my math problems too. I just don't know if they will overlook that, probably not.

If your rec was from your math teacher, that should help a little, and the counselor's note should help even more...but it will be tough for them to disregard a 490...
Good luck. What are your other options?

What do you mean by other options? Are you talking about my app or other schools?

I meant which other schools have accepted you?
And that counselor letter should really work in your favor...I've heard that everything is more official when it comes from the counselor!

Got into Oberlin, University of Florida, UT Austin, and I expect UC San Diego. I can't even afford ND if i get in so I'm not too worried. ( I have connections at Oberlin, doubt I got in on my own accord.)

I thought the University of Florida's decisions don't come out until February 15th. How did you find out early? My daughter is waiting for both ND and UF's decisions and would love to know at least one of them early.

Are you talking about the one in Gainesville? I applied forever ago and when I called them a few weeks ago they told me. I figured it was official but havent received a letter.

Teddy--- I am in the same situation. I'm also URM hispanic applying to ND.

love the school, have gotten into some great schools.... but that's mostly due to my EC's and probably URM status. Like you, I have a great class rank and grades, but SAT's ehhhh not so much (1850... i feel your pain... i cant take standardized tests)

hopefully we both wrote some kick ass essays or they loved something about our application, cause ND doesn't too often look beyond the scores which sucks

I totally agree with you lilchica, I feel your pain. I just don't think the SATs measure up my college potential..hopefully through all the college credit i've obtained, ND can see I'm a great student that just can't take tests. Oh well, after these reviews of my stats I'm not really looking at this school as an option anymore to be honest, even though I would die to attend. I'm satisfied with the schools I've been accepted to though, so no matter what letter comes in April I know I'm doing great things with my life. I hope you can find a good outlook too (it helps keep sanity) haha.

how did you do so well on the AP tests also made by the college board?

If you're referring to the part about college credit, I'm not talking about the AP tests. I've actually taken 6 classes at the local community college and received As as well as taking 3 AP tests and 3 more this year. But you're right, I don't do to well on those either, I only got credit for English.

well yeah, it would seem that the college A's will boost you then because obviously that's a good indicator of how you will do in college.

thanks for the input. I sent in my college transcript with my high school one. Do they look at those even or are they too pressed for time? I wonder if it will help a lot...surely not enough to make up for awful sats probably..
