Anything, please!
I am a little concerned that all my posts are from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s! I wonder what that says about me?!

OK, if we’re going there, then this performance on Britain’s Got Talent has to be one of the top extremely unexpected amateur performances of all time:
Watching the faces changing in that video is still fun to watch. And she has heck of a voice. Can’t judge a book…
Not sure what it says about you but I think we lost a generation to rap and a lot of songs that we can’t put on this site because of TOS… My kids know more from those decades also because I wouldn’t let them listen to a bunch of stuff.
Ok, since we’re in including talent shows, and since @sushiritto beat me with Susan Boyle, I’ll add this as one of my most memorable, again from the “Don’t Judge a Book…” category. From the 2014 season of The Voice of Italy. Where does the time go? I remember watching when the show first aired, but it doesn’t seem like 8 years ago.
Susan Boyle is now worth 40 million BTW.
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Fantastic.
Nuns are cool! I went to Catholic school for years. Love this.
Wait, when did Italy get TV?
Can’t forget the great Satchmo:
Louis Armstrong’s “Hello Dolly” (not this version) hit #1 in May 1964, Satchmo had another distinction: he dislodged the Beatles from the #1 singles spot after a consecutive run of 14 straight weeks at that position. I betcha’ the Fab Four was delighted that it was the incomparable Louis Armstrong who was the one that ended their amazing streak!
This is one of the finest moment in rock “mockumentary” history. I wish I could post the full scene, but TOS prohibits me.
Amen! Teaching kids not to be afraid of anything. Being shy is fine, but this performance is far more persuasive than Dad’s utterings which are generally ignored.
The reference to Janis Joplin can’t be missed: Janis was a wonderfully talented and innocent person who believed in a better world than we gave her. But I am so glad we had her for the short time we did.
I don’t disagree…“White Rabbit” is beyond compare. Marty Balin-led pieces are too.
By contrast, “We Built This City” is absolute garbage. For starters, which city do they refer to?
I saw Elton John and Eric Clapton perform together at Dodger Stadium in the 90s. It was a great concert!
I saw Elton John in 2019 and he was barely able move from the piano. He was seated for most of the concert and would occasionally stand next to the piano bench for a moment then sit again. The platform with the piano moved from side to side across the stage. He had a special chair (intermission) and lift (finale) so he didn’t need to take the stairs on or off stage. You can see the ending at 3:22 in this video.
