Is college confidential a popular or at least familiar thing at your school/ among your peers? If not, would you feel any sort of embarrassment if people knew you had an account on here? Why/ why not?
It’s not popular at my school. Most of my peers/upperclassmen just aim for state publics and don’t even consider Ivy leagues.
I would most definitely feel embarrassed. I have lots of dumb chance posts and insecure moments on here haha. I’d like to believe I’ve grown a little, but I also have threads abt my financial constraints and other personal complaints that I wouldn’t want everyone at my school to know… But my identity is not that hard to figure out if anyone from my school actually goes on here…

SAME about the peers! A lot of them have said they think I’m “doing the most” when I say I want to go somewhere out of state or private, get a scholarship, take a certain class, do IB (got a lot of naysayers on this?), etc. I don’t know… I’ve just learned I’m capable of much more and the more I go against what they suggest, the more I succeed. I haven’t shared too much since I’m new on here, but it’s nice to know from you that it’s okay to be vulnerable and honest at times. Thank you!
Welcome! It’s alright to ask for help on here. But like I said, I kind of regret my uber personal posts, and since nothing can really be deleted by your own hand on here, be mindful…
You’re doing great by pushing yourself further than your peers, despite their negative thoughts (go IB!). As for myself, I actually have to battle… the opposite? I’m only aiming for some top 200-100 schools while my classmates and family think I could reach higher. I’m trying hard not to get down because of their disappointment.

Your advice has been noted. I’ve found that what frequently happens is that family and peers don’t know just how incredibly STIFF the competition can be nowadays. And they could be aware of this…but still. If you’ve got a lot of people supporting you and telling you: go higher chica!.. I’d just really focus on the writing, making sure you really create a lasting impression and you don’t dress up your life by being as honest as possible. There’s a reason so many people support you I feel. In the end if they truly have your back, you won’t be able to disappoint.
